A fur coat was once a symbol of luxury and wealth which every woman would desire to own. In the 1950s actresses and models would be seen wearing mink coats, even in the summertime when temperatures were too hot for the luxurious coats they would still be draped over the shoulders of the wealthy and glamorous.
Fast forward to the twenty first century and the story of real fur is still very similar to what is was in the 1950's. Celebrities are still seen wearing the animal product either on the runway or street.
There isn't however the same glamorous quality about wearing real fur anymore. With the development of faux furs, more consumers and designers are not seeing the need to be using and wearing real animal fur. Animal rights activists are starting to have their voices heard within the fashion industry and consumers are starting to listen.
Wether its a fur collar, coat or small pom pom charm the glamour behind this iconic material is starting to slide within the fashion industry.
